Bernhard Pack, a man who lived for the seaBorn in Spiesen-Elversberg, Germany, in 1964. He spent much of his life in Spain, which he considered his adopted country, living in Albir - Alfaz del Pi, Alicante. He studied Marine Zoology at the University of Saarlandes, Saarbrücken. Particularly sensitive to the problems of freshwater in the Costa Blanca, devoted much of his research to its study, especially the processes of seawater intrusion in karst aquifers. In 1988 brought together a team of Spanish, German and Norwegian specialists and directed the research project "Moraig: Speleo-Hydrogeological Expedition". At the same time, during the years 1988, 1989 and 1990 he filmed the documentary film "Moraig: Expedition to the unknown", winner of 17 international awards. He died on September 21, 1992 in one of his dives in the Moraig. Two years later, the team of specialists that Bernhard consolidated creates Sidmar, to continue his research project started in Moraig and to contribute to the knowledge and dissemination of Marine Sciences. |
