WAVEX Wave Monitoring System

The WAVEX wave monitoring system provides data of directional ocean wave and surface currents obtained from analyzing radar images of the sea surface from standard marine X-band. Data processing of a time sequence of these images allows qualitative directional wave spectra as well as spectra scaled in absolute wave height and surface current to be obtained.

The system is operative from ships in transit at all speeds or from a fixed location. It is a very useful tool which gives information about the actual wave parameters in the area at operator selected intervals. The areas of use are harbor and coastal water monitoring, high speed, container and research vessels and may also be used on offshore platforms.
